Gnar was born and raised in Oakland and moved to Atlanta at a young age. [undefined] He first was showed an interest listening to Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and says that Jimi Hendrix was the first CD he purchased. [undefined] Gnar first got into skating when he was 12-years old and saved up enough money to buy a CCS Complete skateboard. [undefined] He has been skating daily ever since. [undefined]

Gnar started his own clothing brand and was inspired by his friend Germ who was making money through selling merch.
[undefined] He came up with the name Gnarcotic which represents "an addiction to whatever you love" and marketed it as a skating brand.
[undefined] He began to push his merch through Twitter when he was 17 and it became popular through networking in the Atlanta scene. The first rappers who wore Gnarcotic were Pouya and Fat Nick. [undefined] He has since collaborated with Robb Bank$, Lil Yachty, and $uicideboy$. [undefined]
