In May 2016, Liberté was involved in an incident nicknamed #sweatergate when weekend anchor Chris Burrous handed her a sweater to cover up her short Aidan Mattox dress while she was doing the weather. Chris first said the station had been getting phone calls about the dress, and later said he had been joking. His actions were decried as being sexist. Chan said she thought he was being funny. In 2015 he gave her his suit jacket when her seafoam dress showed weather graphics all over it because it interfered with the green screen. [17]
