Kek

Kek

Kek, also spelled Kuk or Keku, is a dark meme related to a satirical invocations of the Ancient Egyptian deification of darkness: Kek (mythology). This god of darkness and chaos was reintroduced first as a world of Warcraft translation for LoL (laughing out loud).

The Cult of Kek or Church of Kek that followed in 4chan and Reddit features the god as androgynous with a frog head or frog-headed male form. A snake-headed woman female form is also sometimes used. [1]

The deity features on 4chan as the character Pepe the Frog, providing a modern avatar. The phrase “praise Kek” is sometimes invoked jokingly. [1]

Kek has been associated with the Alt-right and Donald Trump supporters who have depicted Pepe the Frog as Trump. As of November 2016, Wesearchr has a $5,000+ bounty secured for a "The Don" themed road sign to be put up.

Disney character Shrek has also been depicted as Kek. Kek is often referred to as the bringer of dawn because he reigns in the dark chaos before light emerges.
