Kaushal Patel is an Indian-American news anchor for One America News Network. She is based in San Diego, California.
Early Life and Education
Kashual was born in Evanston, Illinois and grew up in Skokie, Illinois. She is the daughter of first-generation immigrants from India. Her father is a scientist and director of a kidney transplant laboratory. [1] In her youth, Kaushal described herself as shy and not really knowing what she wanted to do with her life. While attending the University of Texas, El Paso where she studied management and marketing. During her time there, she applied for an internship at the news department and got it. [1] As she was shadowing a reporter, Kaushal became intruiged by their daily activities and realized that this was the career path she was meant for. [1]
Career
Kaushal began her career in 2001 as an Anchor/Reporter for the small market NBC affiliate KYMA-TV in Yuma, Arizona. Over the next several years, she would bounce around from KOLD 13 in Tuscon, Arizona and CBS 11 in Dallas before landing her breakout role as an Anchor for CNN. She was first located in Atlanta, but moved to Hong Kong in order to be featured on their international broadcasts. [1] After two years, she returned to the United States in 2010 to be the lead Anchor for KGTV Channel 10 San Diego. During her tenure there, Kaushal received an Emmy for coverage of Junior Seau’s suicide. She has also received several Associated Press Awards for Best Newscast and for Investigative Reporting into prescription drugs that were banned in the U.S. as being unsafe, but were being sold in pharmacies across the border in Mexico. In 2015, Kashual joined One America News as a Lead Anchor.
