Early Life
Katie grew up in Mount Airy, Philadelphia and East Oak Lane before moving to Abington, and is a graduate of Abington Senior High School. [13]
Education
During her senior year of high school she was editor-in-chief of her high school's paper, The Abingtonian, and was awarded the Congressional Award Gold Medal for doing more than 400 hours of community service. [13]
Katro attended Ithaca College from 2011 to 2012 studying journalism and international politics. She was also in the honors program. [14]
She then attended Temple University, graduating in 2015 with a degree in broadcast journalism. [14]
Career
Upon graduating from Temple University, Katro began working at 5News in Fayetteville, Arkansas as a field reporter and fill-in anchor. She covered several prominent events like the LPGA Tournament, the Walmart Shareholders Meeting, and the Bentonville Film Festival. She covered a plane crash carrying a former Walmart CEO and dug into documents of a historical home of a famous aviator, set to be demolished. Her coverage was able to help save the house. She also covered many visits by presidential candidates, including Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump. [13]
Katro then moved to a station in Hartford, Connecticut where she also served on the Communications Advisory Board for Manchester Community College. Manchester Community College. [13]
She joined the 6abc Action News team as a reporter in December 2018.
In September 2019, Katro served as M.C. and helped present the awards at the 10th annual TDM Advocates breakfast that was held in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.[15]
