Katelyn Self is the daughter of Roger Self and Dianne Self.
Roger Self is the owner of the private investigation and loss prevention firm, Southeastern Loss Management Inc. Katelyn has a brother, Josh Self who is also a Sheriff's Deputy with Gaston County Sheriff's Office.
Katelyn Self studied at Gaston College in Dallas, North Carolina.

Katelyn Self was engaged to her fiance Alex Burns. The couple planned to get married in September 2018. Like Katleyn, Alex Burns is also a Sheriff's Deputy with the Gaston County Sheriff's Officer.

Death
On Sunday, May 20, 2018 Katelyn Self and her sister-in-law, Amanda Self were both killed after Katelyn's father Roger Self rammed his SUV into a restaurant the family was dining at. Roger Self was taken into police custody and charged with two counts of murder after the attack. The attack place around noon at the Surf and Turf Lodge in Bessemer City, North Carolina. [1]
