On June 9, 2017, Joshua was shot and killed in an officer involved shooting in Tulsa, Oklahoma.    The incident occurred at the Super Stop convenience store at 46th Street North and MLK at about 10:00 a.m. local time.  
Tulsa County deputies went to a house to serve a civil pickup order earlier in the morning. The deputies were acting on a mental health pickup order and a judge would have signed it so that officers could take Joshua to a mental health facility.  
Joshua's death sparked a protest on a city street that prompted dozens of officers in riot gear to monitor the situation.
