Joshua Anthony Barré was an American resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma. ^[1]

Barré had mental health problems and was seeing counselors at the time of his death.

On June 9, 2017, Joshua was shot and killed in an officer involved shooting in Tulsa, Oklahoma. ^[1] The incident occurred at the Super Stop convenience store at 46th Street North and MLK at about 10:00 a.m. local time. ^[1]

Joshua was followed there by deputies who were making their fourth attempt in 10 days to take him in for a court ordered mental evaluation.

Tulsa County deputies went to a house to serve a civil pickup order earlier in the morning. The deputies were acting on a mental health pickup order and a judge would have signed it so that officers could take Joshua to a mental health facility. ^[1]

Joshua left the house and went to the Super Stop convenience store armed with two knives and that police received at least two 911 calls about him. ^[1]

Deputies and an a Tulsa Police Department officer shot Joshua as he tried to enter the store because there were people inside. ^[1] He was armed with two knives when he was shot.

He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The deputies and the police officer involved in the shooting have been put on administrative leave. ^[1]

Joshua's death sparked a protest on a city street that prompted dozens of officers in riot gear to monitor the situation.
