Joshua "Josh" Hamer was a sophmore student Baseball and Football player at The John Carroll School in Bel Air, Maryland. He was remembered for being an amazing young man, as well as a great friend and teammate to many. He was also known for being an exceptional person and athlete by friends, teammates, and coaches alike. [1]

Josh Hamer attended The John Carroll School in Bel Air, Maryland. He played Wide receiver and Defensive end for the John Carroll Patriots Junior Varsity team. Josh also played for the school's baseball team. In football he played as number 98 and in baseball he was #25. He also played baseball for the Diamond Pros Baseball team as #34. He had trained and played with the team for the past three years.
Personal Life
Josh Hamer was originally from Denton, Texas and later moved to North East, Maryland. Josh Hamer was passionate about football and baseball, and was a fan of the Texas Longhorns, Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Death
Vigil set up at the The John Carroll School to remember Josh
On March 2, 2017 Josh Hamer was killed in a car crash on Thursday, Maryland State Police confirmed. Josh Hamer was in a white Volvo being drive by his uncle, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. The driver of the car that hit them, N’Gai Naamone Lincoln Jr. of Havre de Grace, also survived the wreck. Lincoln’s Ford Explorer struck the Volvo when the Volvo was attempting to pull into a Royal Farms parking lot across two lanes of traffic on MD-22, according to police. [1]
School Response
In response, The John Carroll School closed early on Thursday and canceled classes for Friday, as well as a Senior Retreat.
A vigil
was planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening on the J.C.
Baseball Field for prayer, healing and remembrance.
Richard O'Hara, the President of The John Carroll School said in a statement:
“This is a time of great sadness for The John Carroll School community.
We will come together as a family to mourn the loss of a cherished member of our sophomore class tonight at 6:30.
We have cancelled classes tomorrow to allow our students time to grieve and to heal, but faculty and staff will be available throughout the day to make sure our students have the support they need.
In the coming days, we will be reaching out in faith and love to the family of our dear student--praying for his eternal joy and for their consolation.”
