Joey Salads (born December 10, 1993) is a YouTube Star; he is known for creating funny prank videos on his JoeySalads channel. He had previously gained fame on the now inactive social media app, Vine. [11]
His channel has over 2.5 million subscribers due to its great content.[2]
Early Life
Joey born as Joey Saladino was born on December 10, 1993 in Staten Island, New York City. His parents’ names are not known, but they are immigrants.[11]
He has two younger sisters whose names are not known, he grew up with them in Prince’s Bay, Staten Island.
He attended a catholic school during his childhood days. [11]
There is no information about his education or background but he is a high school graduate, he graduated from St. Joseph by the Sea High School, it is a private, co-educational school located in New York City. [11]
After graduating high school, he went to work as a delivery boy for a Pizza restaurant before quitting a few months later; his former boss said that Joey helped “tweaked operations” to make the restaurant run more efficiently.
He later began to attend classes at the College of Staten Island, but he confessed that he didn’t learn anything and dropped out to focus on his career as a YouTuber. [12]

He began his online career when he created a Vine account, where he was known for his prank videos, comedic skits, and lots of other entertaining videos. He gained over a million followers and fame before the app was shut down. [12]
With time, his video began to gained the attention of viewers.
He began to post prank videos like, 'Bashing Dad's Phone - Dad Freaks out!!!,' 'Bashing Sister's Autographed One Direction CD - Funny Pranks on Family,' and 'Bashing Dad's Xbox - DAD FREAKS OUT!!!.'[12]
These videos have over a million views.
He changed his content again and began uploading videos where he would do social experiments to check people's reactions in various situations and topics.[11]
These include videos like, he conducted an experiment to see how parents train their children to avoid abduction, and the video has over 13 million views.
He “roofied” drinks to check how easy or difficult it was to trick females at bars, and the video has over 15 million views.
He made videos on home invasion by children, and the video has over 10 million views and he also experimented on how both girls and guys could be sexually harassed in public, the video has over 12 million views.
He is known for using the phrase "It's smashing time" a lot in his videos, which he later changed to "It's bashin' time.
He has collaborated with fellow YouTubers, Boris Laursen and Jack Vale. He has over 2.5 million subscribers. [11]
He has a second channel, which he uses as a vlog channel where he uploads his views and opinions on various subjects.

On May 9, 2019, he formally announced he was seeking the 2020 Republican nomination to represent New York's 11th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, hoping to unseat Democratic officeholder, Max Rose.[11]
Regardless of not having any professional political experience, he began campaigning for the Republican primary in New York's 11th district, which covers Staten Island and a small section of Brooklyn.
His campaign raised a total of $66,704.22 during this time, $450 of it was donated to Roger Stone's legal defense fund.[12]
On December 13, 2019, he withdrew his candidacy and said he was endorsing fellow Republican candidate Joe Caldarera.
He was accused of running for office just to boost his public profile.[12]
He was wrongly identified as attending the "Unite The Right" protest at Charlottesville after a photo of him wearing a swastika armband went viral on Twitter.
He was in Jamaica during the event, and it was revealed that the image was taken from a prank video he had uploaded several months ago.[11]
He then went on to file a formal complaint against congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez which led to the congresswoman blocking him on Twitter, after she cited a ruling that prevented elected officials from censoring speech on public forums. [11]
He has expressed support for US President Donald Trump.
He was removed from Twitter in May 2020. A representative from Twitter stated,
“the account was permanently suspended for repeated violations of our platform manipulation and spam policy.”
Personal Life
He was previously in a relationship with social media personality Tanisha Coetzee but the two broke up in early 2018. Some fans blamed their break up on Joey’s abusive behavior and his pranks on Tanisha. [11]
However, Tanisha cleared the air and said while they were dating, he always treated her well.
