Jeremy Patterson was a 32-year-old resident of Draper, UT a city in Salt Lake County. [2]On June 6, 2017 Jeremy killed Memorez Rackley and her son Jace Rackley in a murder-suicide in Sandy, Utah. He had threatened Memorez multiple times on Instagram before the shooting. The motive appears to have been that he was stalking her and in his mind he was angry that Memorez was keeping their relationship a secret. [4] [18]
Personal Life
Jeremy Patterson had some sort of relationship with Memorez Rackley, a married mother of four living in Sandy, Utah however police are not sure what kind of relationship. A neighbor had said that Memorez had told them that Jeremy was stalking her. [18]Jeremy was not the father of the children and lived in a townhouse in Draper, Utah. He is originally from West Jordan, Utah. Jeremy enjoyed bodybuilding and competed in fitness conventions. He was also a fan of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. [2]

One June 7, 2017, Jeremy Patterson murdered Memorez Rackley and her son Jace Rackley outside their home in Sandy, Utah. Officials with the Sandy Police Department say a woman in an SUV with her 8-year-old daughter spotted 39-year-old Memorez Rackley and her two children on the side of the road and offered them a ride. Authorities say Patterson shot Rackley, her 6-year-old son Jace Rackley, Rackley's 9-year-old son and the 8-year-old daughter of the woman driving the SUV. Rackley's 9-year-old son and the 8-year-old girl are both expected to survive their injuries. However, Rackley and Jace both died from their wounds. [3]

Jeremy Patterson had made multiple threats toward Memorez Rackley before the shooting.
He had been stalking Memorez and in his mind, he was upset that their relationship was a secret.
[18]Memorez was married to Dustin Rackley. According to the Sandy Police, Memorez had reported being harassed on the telephone by James Patterson on June 3, 2017 three days before the shooting. Sandy police said that officers spoke to Patterson and asked him to stop contacting Rackley after receiving the call. [19]
A friend of Jeremy Patterson's said that he had been using anabolic steroids and that he could have committed the murders in a fit of Roid Rage. [18]
In private Instagram posts in the two days leading up to the violent shootings near a Sandy elementary school, Jeremy Patterson posted that the woman, who was no longer dating him, had hidden their relationship and attempted to "control" him after they broke up.
In a caption for a meme posted on the day of the shooting showing a grinning child who won't reveal a secret, Patterson wrote:
"How can you love someone so much and keep you such a secret??
After 6 months, I never met her friends, family or kids!!!
I don't think anyone deserves to be kept a secret.
I love Memorez Rackley and she's never been a secret in my life!"[4] Another post, written Monday, includes a picture of a character from the "Saw" horror films, with the words "Let the games begin" on it.
In his caption, Patterson wrote: "My ex thinks she can control even when we aren't together!!!!" followed by an expletive and the words, "Let the games begin … " with another expletive.
