Janine Ackerman was an American general manager of the Village of Merrick Park Equinox Gym in Coral Gables, Florida.
Education
Ackerman completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in hospitality management. She then attended Florida International University completing her M.S. in hospitality management.
Death
On April 8, 2017, Ackerman died from gunshot wounds she sustained after Abeku Wilson opened fire on her and another employee, Mario Hortis at the gym she was working at. Wilson came into the gym, and a dispute started between the two and Mario.
Janine and Mario were airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead.
Abeku Wilson killed himself in an act of suicide at the gym in the Village of Merrick Park.
