Abeku Wilson was a gym trainer and fitness model ^[11]based in Miami. ^[1]]

Abeku is of Ghanan descent. ^[9]He was described as an overall great guy, who was considered by many to be the most popular trainer at Equinox. ^{[5] [2]}His Instagram shows that he was a blue belt in Brazilian Jui-Jitsu and practices Muay Thai. ^[0]Wilson was a competitive body builder and fitness model who competed in multiple NPC shows. ^[0]Abeku is remembered for his infectious smile and positive energy he brought to the people around him. ^[1]

On April 8, 2017, Wilson was having a dispute with his former employer at an Equinox Fitness in the Village of Merrick Park. Wilson then opened fire on two of the gym's employees, General Manager, Janine Ackerman who was the General Manager and Mario Hortis who was a trainer; they were wounded and airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center. Wilson ended up turning the gun on himself and committed suicide. ^[5]Those who knew him said the shooting was personal and had he wanted to, could have inflicted much more damage. ^[5]
