On the early morning of July 2nd, 2017, president Donald Trump tweeted a gif of himself beating up a CNN logo during one of his appearances on WWE some years back. ^[undefined] HanAssholeSolo had posted the original edited version on The Donald which had gotten a lot of points, comments and up votes. ^[undefined]

Since the time that Trump made the tweet, people on Social media condemned the president for depicting a violent attack. ^[undefined]

The video appears to originate from the Reddit user HanAssholeSolo who posted the original GIF titled Trump takes down fake news (Colorized, 2017) and received over 8,000 upvotes on The Donald subreddit. The White House neither confirmed nor denied using HanAssholeSolo content.

Writer and Georgia Southern University professor Jared Yates Sexton accused HanAssholeSolo of Anti-Semitism over his previous Reddit posts of CNN. ^[666666] In response, HansAssholeSolo published an apology saying that he apologizes for any posts that were interpreted as racist, bigoted, or anti-semitic and that he was just trolling to get a reaction out of people and that he does not advocate violence against the press. ^[666666]
