Gary Oliva is an American convicted pedophile who has long been a suspect in the murder of JonBenét Ramsey, whose body was found at her home in Boulder, Colorado on December 26, 1996. In January 2019, in prison letters to his friend Michael Vail, Oliva confessed to her murder. ^[1]

Oliva is being held after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children received a cybertip from Google, that suspected child pornography was uploaded to Gmail by a user. The porn was uploaded from various IP addresses located in Boulder.

A Boulder police investigator reviewed sexually explicit images of a girl between 4 and 7-years-old attached to an email account registered to Oliva.

He is accused of uploading 22 separate sexually explicit images, all of them of children younger than 10, and some engaged in sex acts either with each other or with adult males.

In letters written from prison, Oliva allegedly wrote to Michael Vail, “I never loved anyone like I did JonBenét and yet I let her slip and her head bashed in half and I watched her die.

It was an accident.

Please believe me.

She was not like the other kids."

The Boulder, Colorado police department is aware of Oliva and has investigated his potential involvement in the case. Additionally, they stated that Oliva has confessed to her killing several times in the past. ^[1]
