Death

On Monday, January 1, 2018, authorities responded to a 911 call at around 10:45 a.m. for an unresponsive girl, Gabby.

[1]

After they arrived, CPR was being administered by family members and officers found Gabby suffering from severe burns on her arms and legs. [1]

Gabby was rushed to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. [1]

On January 3, 2018, the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner ruled Gabby's death as a homicide with evidence of multiple traumatic injuries and signs of Battered child syndrome. [1]

A manhunt is underway for Diaz and her boyfriend, Brad Fields, and they are believed to be driving a black 2002 Chevy Cavalier bearing Michigan license plate DTR 1854. [1]

The family has a history of domestic violence. On May 20, 2016, officers were called to the house after a report of a barricaded gunman after a domestic assault. [1]

Candice told police that Brad had beat her, shot her dog and shot himself in a suicidal outburst. Brad then fled the home and was later arrested on domestic violence charges. [1]
