Fire Fight Australia

Fire Fight Australia

Fire Fight Australia was a concert organized to raise money for Australia's bushfire crisis. About 70,000 tickets to the event sold out within 24 hours.[1] It was held on February 16, 2020.

About

The event featured Celeste Barber as its host and was set to last 9 hours. Performers included British rock band Queen (fronted by American singer Adam Lambert), Olivia Newton-John, and a string of others including Alice Cooper, K.D. Lang (who performed a rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah), Amy Shark, Baker Boy, Conrad Sewell, Daryl Braithwaite, Delta Goodrem, Grinspoon, Guy Sebastian, Hilltop Hoods, Icehouse, Illy, Jessica Mauboy, Lee Kernaghan, Pete Murray, Peking Duk, Tina Arena and William Barton.[1][2]

Geoff Jones, the chief executive of TEG, the entertainment company helping to spearhead Fire Fight, encouraged those who missed out on tickets to still donate to organisations helping with bushfire relief.

He said:

"We have been humbled to see such a unified and generous national response to Fire Fight Australia.

The concert is designed to raise as much money as possible for bushfire relief and hopefully raise people's spirits in the process."[1]

The money raised will be split between the Red Cross, rural and regional fire services in affected stated and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals's bushfire appeal.[2]
