Death
On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, Girotto died after being struck by a vehicle in Burnaby. She was hit by a northbound vehicle while crossing at a marked crosswalk on Cariboo Road south of Highway 1 shortly after 7:00 a.m. local time. She died at the scene.
Girotto and her 17-year-old sister were on their way to a nearby bus stop at the time of the collision.
