Roberto Miguel Rey Júnior (better known as Dr. Robert Rey; born October 1, 1961) is a Brazilian plastic surgeon and martial artist. He specializes in minimal scar Plastic surgery.
Early Life & Edupation
Robert Rey was born to Avelina Reisdörfer and by engineer Roberto Miguel Rey. He was born in the United States, but grew up in São Paulo, Brazil.
In 1974, when he was 12 years old, Rey left with his siblings (two sisters and one brother) to the live in Utah, where they were adopted by Mormon missionaries. They later moved to Arizona.
At age 16, Dr. Robert Rey reconnected with his mother and moved to Prescott, Arizona. He eventually graduated there, attending Prescott High School. His mom worked as a janitor to help with Robert’s schooling bills.
In his college years, he stayed in Arizona and received his Bachelor's from Arizona State University in 1983. He also received his Master's degree from Harvard University in Health Policy. In addition, he earned his M.D. at Tufts University.
Career
Dr. Rey completed a three-year internship at Harbor UCLA, followed by two years of internship in plastic surgery in 1997 at the University of Tennessee-Memphis Health Science Center.
He also completed a plastic surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School's Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. The focus of this fellowship was primarily in the areas of breast and cosmetic surgery.
In 2004, Dr. Rey participated in the reality show Dr. 90210. The show documents Dr. Rey's professional and private life.
He has treated a large number of film, television and fashion industry patients.
He has been criticized for his informal way of treating patients.
Martial Arts
Dr. Rey is a black belt and a self-proclaimed expert in weapons.
He studied Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Hapkido (Korean self-defense), Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts), American wrestling and Jeet Kune Do (the art of Bruce Lee).
Personal Life
Dr. Rey was married to Haley Rey Between 2000 to 2014.
They had two children together: Sydney and Robby.
