Mackey grew up in Waterbury, Vermont and is the son Scott Mackey a lobbyist and a former legislative aide to the late U.S.

would graduate from Harwood Union High School and earn a degree in economics from Middlebury College. [6]

Mackey started the Twitter account Ricky Vaughn in 2014 during the aftermath of Gamergate.

He started to post content in favor of Donald Trump during the 2016 election as well as Anti-Semitic tweets.

On April 3rd during an argument on GAB, Paul Nehlen revealed that Mackey is the identity behind Ricky Vaughn and later Christopher Cantwell tweeted a picture of him.

Nehlen was subsequently banned from Gab for his actions.
