Previously, Dontavis had been arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault over the stabbing Nicholas Roberts in the back in Janaury of 2015.

He was released on $100,000 bond on with conditions on October 13, 2015.

On November 28, 2016, Marquez was FaceTiming with his girlfriend when Dontavis shot him in the head for no apparent reason. The gun used in the murder was stolen from Henry County, Georgia. [1] The incident happened at 3806 Adkins Road in Northwest Atlanta around 7pm.
