'macenzo' is a photographer based in Amsterdam, a city that he has lived in for over 30 years. ^[19] He is one of the most popular users on the photo-sharing app Instagram. ^[16]

Dirk's originally profession was graphic design and he worked in different companies and freelanced for over 20 years. He would mostly work on companies' brochures, posters, branding, etc. ^[14]

Dirk has always had an interest in photography. As a hobby, Dirk enjoyed taking photos with his SLR camera. It was not until Instagram that his passion turned into a career. He has always been inspired by the lines, shapes, and patterns that architecture creates, and tries to capture the uniqueness in every picture he creates. Some apps he uses include SKRWT for perspective correction/straightening and Snapseed/Enlight for editing.

Dirk brands his style to be Photo+Graphic and attributes the eye he had for graphic design for his success in photography. ^{[15] [14]}

Dirk took his first Instagram photo on June 13, 2011, and has since become a massive success on the platform. ^[15] As of March 2017, he has over 399,000 followers. ^[16]

Dirk considers German photographer Andreas Gursky as one of his strongest influences. In addition, Dirk is inspired by other Instagram users including Lebanese photographer serjios. ^[14]

Dirk is one of the founding members of SeeMyCity which is a city marketing initiative which combines creative mobile photography and social media to share the beauty of each city to the world. He and his colleagues have already worked successfully in several cities including Rotterdam, Oslo (SeeMyOslo), Leuven (SeeMyLeuven) and Doha (SeeMyDoha). ^[14]

Dirk admires Steve Jobs and hopes to travel the world as much as possible. In his free time, he also enjoys biking and watching movies. ^[15]
