David Vorick

David Vorick (age 30) is an American Software developer and blockchain personality. He is the CEO, Co-founder and Lead Developer of the Siacoin, which provides a decentralized cloud storage platform and which is powered by the blockchain Infrastructure provider known as Nebulous. [11]

Early Life & Education

David was born and brought up in Palatine, Illinois. He completed schooling from William Fremd High School, Illinois. He is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer science in 2014. During his college education, he founded the Computer Club and Co-led the RCOS Group . [12][13]

Career

During his education in NY, David worked as a software developer for multinational software company, IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was responsible for upgrading the TPF Operating System. He spent just 9 months there before shifting his focus to blockchain.

Nebulous

In 2014, he co-founded blockchain hardware and software infrastructure builder for the decentralized internet known as Nebulous with Luke Champine. The company is based in Boston, MS and it raised $3.25M in Seed round in 2019. [15][2] It is funded by Bain Capital Ventures, Raptor Group, First Star Ventures, Dragonfly Capital Partners, SV Angel and more. David has been the CEO of the company from the start. Nebulous has two working Blockchain projects Sia, which provides cloud storage options and Obelisk which designs and manufactures Proof-of-work cryptocurrencies mining hardware. It is leading ASIC miner providers in the USA and used to mine Siacoin, Decred, and Grin.[14][16]

Sia

David Vorick and Luke Chapmine founded cloud storage platform based on blockchain known as Sia Tech in 2014. The idea actually started when they participated at HackMIT in September 2013. Sia aims to provide cheaper and robust cloud storage platforms than traditional and centralized competitors like Dropbox, Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Apple. David has performed multiple responsibilities at the Siacoin including lead developer and CEO. He has been very active on Siacoin Blog and has written some great articles on blockchain, cryptocurrency and of course Sia technology. He has also featured in many podcasts on YouTube.[17][4]

Personal Life

David lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is active on social media and has over 6k followers on Twitter.[1] He has a Facebook account as well.[5]
