Biography
Deakin grew up in Peoria, Illinois around corn fields to a broken family. He dropped out of high school and worked as a licensed roofing contractor in his 30s. Since it was seasonal work, he used his free time to study computers. Before moving to the Philippines, he was arrested several times for marijuana and drunken driving charges. [4]
Deakin moved to the Philippines in 2000 after he found work setting up Internet service providers and installing Blackmagic live streaming production programs. Three years later, an intra-office argument led to immigration charges which were later dropped. Although he was supposed to leave, he stayed in the country. Recently, he earned $30 an hour working as a system's administrator. [4]
Arrest for Child Pornography

On April 20, 2017, the Philippines'NBI and the United States'FBI raided Deakin's home and arrested him. They handcuffed him with the first thing that they could find, which was an iPhone charger cord. The arrest came after an online international money transfer service notified an American internet provider about a suspicious account. In his home, investigators found children's underwear, toddler shoes, cameras, bondage cuffs, fetish ropes, meth pipes and stacks of hard drives and photo albums. His computer was full of illicit material of pre-pubescent children engaging in sexual acts. [5]
The Philippines is at the nexus of the elusive yet rampant child pornography industry happening in cyberspace due to the country having fluent English speakers, increased internet connections and widespread international cash transfer systems along with rampant poverty and easy access to vulnerable kids.
