Daralene Jones is a media and communications professional that currently work as a News Anchor and Investigative Reporter to WFTV Channel 9 Eyewitness News in Orlando, Florida. She has worked as a reporter/bureau chief across several broadcasting station like WICS-TV, WCIA, WREG-TV and NBC News. She is a proud graduate of Illinois State University.

Education

Daralene Jones comes from Chicago and she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication, Journalism and Related Programs. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Public Affairs from the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Career

In August 2002, Daralene Jones started her career as a Statehouse reporter at WICS-TV in Springfield, Illinois. While at WICS, she was responsible for covering the Illinois Legislature. She left WICS-TV after ten months to join WCIA, Illinois as a Bureau Chief in 2003 where she was responsible for generating news content for daily newscasts and was also responsible with building relationship with government leaders so as to be informed as per issues impacting the community and state.

She joined WREG-TV in 2005 where she reported for two years, focusing her stories on education and government affairs. She also produced contents for the station’s web page daily. She moved to Orlando, Florida in 2007 to join WFTV as a reporter but she did more of enterprise reporting and also focus on generating exclusive lead stories. She reported at Orlando for six years before she joined NBC News in January 2013.

Jones, while at NBC News, makes an extensive coverage of the abduction of a five years old child which later earned her an Emmy Nomination. She also made report on the School District of Philadelphia Budget crisis.

She came back to Orlando to join WFTV back in May 2014 and she can be seen on Eyewitness News Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on WFTV Channel 9, and at 10 p.m. on TV 27, WRDQ. [5][1][2]

Personal Life

Daralene Jones currently resides in Orlando, Florida with her husband. She is a volunteer at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Boys & Girls Club and at Orlando Health Foundation Inc.
