Christine Hauser is a reporter for The New York Times.
Education & Career
Christine became a reporter for the continuous news desk at The New York Times in September 2003.
Before joining The Times, Ms. Hauser was a Reuters correspondent stationed in the Middle East. From 1999 until 2003, she reported from Israel and the Palestinian territories, where she covered the Palestinian uprising in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. She also covered the U.S.-led War in Afghanistan.
From 1996 until 1999, she was stationed in Cairo, Egypt, where she filed stories on Egypt, Sudan and Libya, for Reuters’ Cairo bureau. From 1992 until 1996, she served as a correspondent for the Gulf regional bureau in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Prior to Reuters, Ms. Hauser was a reporter for United Press International, covering the 1990 Iraqi invasion and the 1991 Gulf War. She was also a correspondent for the San Antonio Light in 1990.
Ms. Hauser was a Reuters’ nominee for the 2001 Prix Bayeux-Calvados des correspondants de guerre Award. Ms. Hauser received a B.A. degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Colorado and a M.A. in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures from Columbia University.
