Chino Braxton
Chino Braxton
Early Life
"I was looking up to a guy, his name was Lift, and he was the nicest guy in the city on dirt bikes.
That’s who I wanted to be like, and as I got older, I started riding more, started riding with the 12 O’Clock Boys and riding with him.
He started showing me what I needed to do to start wheeling how I wanted to, and I took that and I just got better over time.
I was actually self-taught, but I had information that was given to me to help me.
Nobody took me on a field.
I learned by riding in the city or watching people ride and giving me tips."[27]
Career
Chino is popular for performing risky tricks at live shows as the leader of the #bikelife movement.
Companies like Monster Energy and Ethika underwear have sponsored him. He was also sponsored by Under Armour as a Sportstyle Pioneer, even releasing his own $125 UA Valsetz shoe in partnership with DTLR. Chino has partnered with B360 Baltimore, donating a customized dirt bike on the Charitybuzz platform. In 2018, Braxton was featured in a campaign ad for the Supreme brand.[15]
After building a very big following on social media, Meek Mill took interest in the West Baltimore native and signed him to the Dreamchasers label.
He has since been featured in music videos like “Ima Boss,” “Litty,” and “Glow Up.” He was chosen as the face of Roc Nation's motocross division. [16]
In 2020, Braxton played the lead in Charm City Kings, a bike life drama executively produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.[27] When you think of your BIG goal, sometimes you start feeling overwhelmed. Why? Because big goals don’t get achieved right away. Instead, you need to create mini goals to help excite you along the way. This way you can be more goal-orientated and build a habit of being more effective.
Celebrating your small wins will help you stay motivated through your journey.
Plus, celebrating is always super fun.
Maybe you break your goal down to 10 small-sized goals with tasks that get you on track to achieve them.
For each of the 10 goals you can add a small celebration.
Maybe a glass of champagne for one or a dessert with a sparkler on top for another.
Don’t forget to check out some of our motivational quotes about success in a later section.
This goes back to the positive environment point: You need to be around others who are just as ambitious as you.
American entrepreneur John Rohn once said, “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with it.”
And whether or not that’s true is debatable, the reality is being around the right kind of people can only help you grow.
If you’re surrounded by those who love your ambition, you’ll be more ambitious and achieve more.
If you’re surrounded by loved ones who tell you your goals are stupid and tell you to change them, you need to avoid them.
Be around those who help you feel comfortable being the ambitious, go-getter you are, so you can become the successful person you’re meant to be.
Shootings
In February 2016, Chino was shot in the head in a drive-by incident in Baltimore, but he survived.
Only a few months later, a local rapper he was close with named Lor Scoota was gunned down as he left a peace rally. Braxton’s brother Trayvon "Truz" Lee was Scoota's manager and was shot and killed only a month later. [1] [17]
