Carl Koontz

Carl Koontz

Carl Koontz was an American Police Officer, husband, and father from Howard County, Indiana.

He was also a school resource officer with the Northwestern School Corporation.

Death

On March 20, 2016 while serving a warrant, Deputy Koontz was shot and killed by Evan Dorsey.

Howard County Sheriff's deputies went to the 300 block of W. Chandler Street around 12:30 a.m. to deliver an outstanding warrant out of Clinton County for possession of a syringe.

The officers knocked on the suspect's door announcing their presence.

They received no response.

Upon entry the officers were confronted by gunfire and the officers returned fire.
