Bradley Schaeffer
Bradley Schaeffer
Bradley Schaeffer (born December 31, 1983) is a doctor who has gained acclaim for his work in podiatry. He works for Family Foot & Ankle Specialists Hillsborough in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey. He also stars on TLC (TV network)'s My Feet Are Killing Me which premiered in January 2020. [6] [2] [1]
Education
Schaeffer earned his Bachelor's degree in pre-med from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 2006. He later graduated from Temple University's School of Podiatric Medicine in 2011.[1]
Career
After Schaeffer graduated from medical school, he completed a "Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program" at Carepoint Health-Hoboken University Medical Center. He focused on sports medicine, foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and wound care.[5]
In 2018, Schaeffer took part in NBC's The Titan Games, Dwayne Johnson's fitness competition show where he made it to the semifinals.[2] Schaeffer said the 2 1/2 weeks experience is one he will "remember forever."[5]
“The moment I got a call from The Rock, I trained harder than I ever have before,” Schaeffer said.
"That was awesome in itself to get picked for the combine, but to actually get picked for the show was totally mind-blowing.
I just focused on being the best version of myself that I could be at the highest level."[5]
"Just being picked was an honor," Schaeffer said.
"Competing in it was truly something special, especially having my parents out there watching it.
It was very humbling.
Just to prove to myself once again that the dedication I have inside of me can get me there.
That's my journey — don't quit, always persevere and you can do it."[5]
In his challenges before leaving the show, Schaeffer faced the "Tower Drop" and then "Mount Olympus," a complex obstacle course.
"The 'Tower Drop' is like a big Kerplunk, if you remember that game," he said.
"You run up to it, climb like three or four stories, and pull all these pulls attached to a harness out and when you get to the top a big concrete ball drops.
I ended up being a strong competitor in that.
In the Mount Olympus, you have to push over a 1,000-pound wall, go over big logs, punch holes in sheet rock and then climb to the top of the mountain.
When you get there, you have to crank a torch all the way up, which was unbelievably heavy, slide down a few slides and then pull a 300-pound concrete ball across the floor and smash though a concrete box to get the Titan relic.
Then, run up the stairs and put it in the hole and win.
Yeah, it was crazy."[5]
In 2020, Schaeffer become one of the stars of My Feet Are Killing Me on TLC, a TLC new series called My Feet Are Killing Me, alongside Ebonie Vincent.
The show is about two foot and ankle surgeons who treat some pretty gnarly conditions.
For example, he described one case .
"I had a gentleman who lost his mom a few years ago and neglected his life.
His nails were close to world record length.
Seeing that extreme case and turning it around is all inspiring,"
He revealed that appearing on "The Titan Games" is what helped him land the show:
“Spreading the word on Instagram and being a part of The Titan Games.
TLC reached out to me while The Titan Games was going on.
It was my wildest dream, and I needed somebody to pinch me because it was nuts.
It was partly luck, but I do put in a lot of hard work and time into my profession and spreading the word of our profession.
I have always been a strong advocate for being honest, humble, and true to yourself.
That definitely resonated with the people on Instagram as I built my followers.
I was very open about my setbacks on The Titan Games.
I did not hire an agent or a trainer.
The Titan Games contacted me because I worked hard every day.
This is who I am.
I am a podiatrist and I want to showcase this because I love it.”
