Ruggiano spent fourteen years in prison and attributes some of his past criminal activities to drug addiction. Ruggiano was introduced to former Gambino crime family boss John Gotti through his father.

He is the son of Angelo Ruggiano Sr. Anthony Ruggiano Sr. was born in 1927 in the neighborhood of Ozone Park, Queens in New York City and was a member Gambino crime family in the 1950's when Albert Anastasia was boss. Ruggiano Sr. rose to the rank of captain until his death in 1999. Ruggiano Jr. was a soldier in the Gambino crime family. He has his own YouTube channel.
