Ashley Nell Tipton (born June 27, 1991) is a fashion designer and jewelry designer. She was the winner of Season 14 of Project Runway.
Early Life & Education
Ashley Tipton was born and raised in San Diego, California. She grew up very close with her family and lived a California lifestyle.
She had a passion for fashion at a very young age.
At the age of 7, she learned how to sew using her grandmother's sewing machine.
Tipton attended Fashion Careers College where she got her Associate's degree in Fashion Design & Technology. Her senior collection at the institute was highlighted in the annual Golden Hanger Fashion Awards.
Career
Before becoming a fashion designer, Tipton worked as a cashier at Sephora.
She eventually got into the fashion industry.
Since becoming a fashion designer, she has collaborated with plus-sized collections for JCPenney.
In 2012, she displayed her collection at New Yorkโs Full Figured Fashion Week.
In 2015, Tipton won the 14th season of Project Runway.
She signed on with JCPenney as a brand ambassador for their new clothing line 'Boutique+.' Together, they aim to listen to a wider audience of women and provide more clothing for plus-sized women to wear.
In November 2017, she launched her own private apparel line on her website.

In 2015, Tipton became the first plus-sized designer to win Project Runway.
In November 2017, it was released that Ashley was on Forbes 30 Under 30 for 'Art & Style.'
Personal Life
Tipton has 3 siblings.
In April 2017, she had gastric bypass surgery. After ending up in a hospital with a skin infection caused by having folds in her skin that were not exposed to air, she received consultation from a surgeon. He told her that her metabolism was not functioning. After weighing the pros and cons and discussing the decision with her friends, she underwent the surgery and adjusted to a new diet.
