Zac Turner

Zachariah Joseph Turner (born 23 February 1986)[10] also known as Dr. Zac is a leading Australian medical personality, doctor of aesthetic medicine and Medical Director of The Cosmetic and Wellness Team.[1] [12][13][15] He has appeared regularly on Channel Nine's Today Extra and featured on Channel Seven's Sunrise, The Morning Show and The Daily Edition, HIT 10, Talking Lifestyle and 2GB.[10] [14] [21]

Early life & education

Turner was raised in rural Queensland and was homeschooled. His parents gave him a unique education with the opportnity to travel and do voluntary humanitarian work from the age of 13 for three to four months a year. These experiences included work as a hospital volunteer in the Republic of the Congo, a drug rehabilitation volunteer in Naples, and as a volunteer in Arnhem Land.[10]

In 2004, at the age of 16, Turner attended Central Queensland University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a registered nurse for Healthscope at the Prince of Wales Hospital from 2008 to 2013.[1][10]

Between 2005 and 2008, Turner also studied at the University of the Sunshine Coast, gaining a BSc in biomedical science. In 2009 he attended University of Sydney where he was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S). After finishing medicine, from 2013 to February 2015, Dr. Zac completed an internship in Gosford Hospital, including terms working in surgery, medicine and emergency care. [1]

Career

While studying, Turner worked full time as a athletic trainer for Sports First Aid between 2002 and 2008. There he created and managed his own business providing first aid, preventative and recovery advice for athletic events and sporting teams.[1][10]

Between 2006 and 2008 he worked as a caseworker for the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services (Queensland), predominantly with adolescents with severe intellectual disabilities.[1]

From 2010 until 2015, Turner joined the Royal Australian Navy as a Lieutenant and medical doctor.[1] Between February 2015 and January 2016, Turner was Medical Director of Muse Clinic in Surry Hills, using the most innovative and effective treatments in medical and aesthetic care.[1]

Professional interests

Turner specializes in preventative and men’s health, with a firm belief that prevention and body optimisation is the best way to prevent chronic diseases.

He suggests assessment and care for a person’s holistic health is the best means to help live longer, healthier and happier life.[10]

The Cosmetic & Wellness Team

Dr. Zac is Medical Director of an expert team that are providing the latest in cosmetic, beauty and wellness services witih Cosmetic & Wellness clinics now located within selected TONI&GUY Salons in Australia.

They provide a range of packages for skin care, hair regrowth, eybrow and eyelash beauty, etc.[11]

Concierge Doctors

Dr. Zac heads a team of medical health experts called Concierge Doctors who provide is a telehealth service.

It allows Australians to schedule a doctor's appointment in seconds to provide prescriptions, medical consultations, medical deliveries, medical certificates or referral letters.[18][19]

COVID-19 response

Dr. Zac has featured in the media with advice and suggestions in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in 2020. He has proposed a radical yellow passport scheme for people once a vaccine has been developed that would allow people to enter shopping malls without masks with the passport and ban those without one from such places and from using public transport and crossing interstate borders.[16] Dr. Zac has also advocated face masks for people going outside and in response to personal protective equipment shortages, advised people how to make their own face masks using common household items such as T-shirts, handkerchieves or fabric shopping bags.[17] He has also provided advice on mental health during the crisis.[20]

Personal

Turner enjoys and has represented Australia in beach volleyball and basketball between 2002 and 2003. He also enjoys drama and has performed lead roles in several theatre productions and musicals and is currently producing a documentary film.[1][10]
