On January 11th, 2017, it was reported that the club house was considering revoking president Barack Obama's membership after he failed to block an anti-Israel vote related to settlements in the West Bank at the United Nations. Obama was supposed to have a "backdoor" deal; that is, a complimentary membership effective after his presidency on January 20th, 2017. [0]
He would not have to pay $80,000 initiation fee for a membership, and nor would he have to pay the $9,673 in annual fees.
The club faces threats for potential lawsuits and litigation for breaching the bylaws to let Obama join.
Obama and his family will live in the vicinity, a few miles away, and this club and golf course could be one of his places of refuge a a private citizen.
