Willie Corey Godbolt is a 35-year-old man from Bogue Chitto, MS. ^[1]

On May 27th around 11:30 pm, Godbolt went to a home where his wife and two children were staying at 2871 Lee Drive in Bogue Chitto.

They had been estranged from him for a few weeks and he desired to get his children back.

Concerned neighbors called the police and Deputy William Durr (Police Officer) arrived to calm the situation. Godbolt ended up murdering the officer and three other females at that residence. ^[1]

Godbolt then went to two other locations; He murdered two juvenile boys at 1658 Coopertown Road in Brookhaven and then a man and a woman at 312 East Lincoln Road.

The only reason why Godbolt stopped was that he ran out of bullets in which after he intended to die by cop.

As he attempted to leave the scene, he was shot and captured by the authorities.

When being interviewed by a local reporter inquiring him about his murder spree, he said he did it because he did it because he loved his wife and children and he loves Bogue Chitto.

Godbolt's victims included Toccara May, the Assistant Store Manager of the Dollar General store in Bogue Chitto.

Godbolt has a long criminal history spanning back over a decade.

He was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault in 2005 after he allegedly struck a man with a pistol and took his cash and jewelry.

In 2013, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office charged him with simple assault.

He was arrested in 2015 for disorderly conduct/breach of peace and failure to comply with a request from a sheriff and for speeding, driving with a suspended license, and no proof of liability insurance by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Furthermore, in 2016, Godbolt filed an appeal to a judgment against him in a simple assault and disorderly conduct case.
