William Riley Gaul is a former football player with Maryville College. He graduated from Knoxville Central High School.

On November 23, 2016, Gaul was charged with murder after Emma Walker was found dead inside her home in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Gaul is accused of firing a handgun into Walker's bedroom from outside her house while she was sleeping on November 20, 2016. The couple had recently ended their relationship but Gaul refused to accept the breakup.

He had posted about her death on Twitter before he was arrested.
