Vivian Wang is an American journalist based in Beijing. She is a reporter for the International Desk of the New York Times, covering China news. [1]
Education
Wang graduated Cum laude from Yale University with a Bachelor's degree in English.
Career
In November 2019, Michael Slackman, Adrienne Carter and Gillian Wong issued a note in which they congratulated Wang on acquiring a new position.
They wrote:
We are excited to announce that Vivian Wang, an intrepid reporter and elegant writer on Metro, will join the China team as our next Beijing-based correspondent.[...] Vivian will head to Asia early next year.
Please join us in congratulating her.[5]
In a note, her editor, Dean Chang said:
Sheโs such a quick and thorough study, making sense of complex issues, and doing so in a way that infused life into covering the State Capitol.
And I often found myself asking her to take on more responsibility that belied her experience here.
We will miss her greatly but look forward to what comes next.[5]
Prior to her current role, she was a writer on Metro Desk at The New York Times. She joined The Times in 2017 as a James Reston Reporting Fellow. Previoulsy, she was a reporting intern at Boston Globe and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. [5]
