On November 25, 2016, Virginia Hinckley was arrested for having sex with one of her students.

On October 20, she had been suspended by the school district.
According to investigators, one of the teen victims said he asked for the teacher’s number a few days after school began in August; Hinckley initially declined to give him the number, but gave it to him the next day and told him not to tell anyone.
Subsequently, Hinckley sent the teen nude photographs of herself.
The two allegedly had unprotected sex in the back of her SUV at Treaty Park in St. Augustine. According to reports, she texted him saying, “You better keep your mouth shut about this.” [1]
Hinckley was charged with unlawful sex with a minor, a second-degree felony. [1]
She was sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender. [1]
