On Thursday April 12, 2018, Sokolova was found deceased in a Wolverhampton park by passer-by at around 7:00 a.m. local time.

A post-mortem examination found that she died from blunt force trauma to the head

A 16 and 17-year-old boy were arrested at their homes in the city on Friday April 13, 2018 and remain in custody.
