Valaree Schwab was a student at New Rochelle High School. ^[1]

On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, Schwab was stabbed in the afternoon at a Dunkin' Donuts by, Z'inah Brown at 646 North Ave. and died at Jacobi Medical Center. ^[1]

Brown was part of a larger group of five or six male and female New Rochelle High School students at the time of the incident.

A series of altercations, including the use of pepper spray, occurred between Schwab and the group along North Avenue, starting at a McDonald's and culminating at the Dunkin' Donuts. ^[1]

Schwab was stabbed twice in the torso with a steak knife inside Dunkin' Donuts on North Avenue. ^[1]

Authorities responded to the Dunkin' Donuts at about 12:20 p.m. local time, finding Schwab responsive but bleeding and losing consciousness. ^[1]
