Triona McCarthy (born August 25, 1976) is a Fashion & Beauty journalist for The Sunday Independent and a TV presenter for Xposé. She writes her own columns for the Xposé magazine that involve her reviews of certain beauty products (highlighters, lotions, lip care, shampoos, nail products, and more). She also has a weekly column in Life Magazine. Triona is based in Dublin, Ireland.
Career
Triona McCarthy is a modern day Beautician. She began her career as a Stylist, Designer, and influential Fashion buyer, and is now a fully accredited Beauty therapist and make-up artist. She has worked in the fashion and beauty industry for more than twenty years. Her first job in the fashion industry was atWhistlesas a retail manager for two years from 1995 to 1997. She then worked as a Fashion Buyer atKhan Boutiquefor seven years from 1997 to 2003. Currently, she works for Xposé on TV3 as a beauty expert where she has worked since 2003. This year will be her fifteenth anniversary working for Xposé.
McCarthy is also a weekly beauty columnist and editor forLIFE Magazinewith the Sunday Independent (Ireland), a magazine that boasts over 1 million readers. In her column, she discusses beauty products, the latest trends among cosmetics and fashion, and gives quick reviews to the products she has tested. In addition to her numerous works McCarthy is a panelist on the TV3 showMidday. She is also a regular contributor to bothDubliner magazineandGlow magazine.
McCarthy is an expert in Beauty products and regularly tests different products as well as new treatments and popular techniques. She showcases various products and techniques during her weekly appearances on Xposé and discusses many products in depth in her column. McCarthy has travelled the world learning all about beauty and fashion from numerous influential people across the globe. She has obtained a thorough knowledge of her craft as well as inspiration from different cultures.
Despite being so involved in the makeup world, McCarthy is actually a firm believer in light and easy makeup regimes.
As of today, McCarthy is one of Ireland's most respected professionals in the fashion and cosmetic industry.
Education
As a child, Triona McCarthy attended school in Sacred Heart Secondary School, an all-girls school in Clonakilty. Later on, she attended the Barbara Burke College of Fashion and Bronwyn Conroy College of Beauty both of which are located in Dublin, Ireland.
Personal Life
McCarthy comes from a rather large family and has seven siblings.
She is married to her longtime boyfriend, William White.
She and her husband have two children together: their son, Maxim, and their daughter, Seren.
She commonly refers to her children as Maxi and Mini in her columns.
McCarthy is a strong advocate against Cancer due to a family history. Her father died from Renal Cancer and her sister, Tricia, who, after a long four year battle with the illness, passed away from Breast cancer at the age of 30 in 2010. Triona started the Tricia McCarthy Memorial Scholarship in honor of her late sister after her death. The scholarship pays for research to further understand and hopefully find a cure for breast cancer.
McCarthy is also completely Deaf in one ear and has been since birth.
