Track Palin

Track Palin

Track Palin (born April 20, 1989) is the oldest son and first of five children of Todd and Sarah Palin.

Personal Life

Track was an Army Reservist and performed a tour of duty in the Iraq in 2008, receiving the accolades of his commanding officer as a good soldier.

Track's childhood friend Jeremy Morlock was sentenced to 25 years in prison for murdering unarmed Afghan civilians and taking photos with the corpses as if he was hunting (an incident known as the "Maywand District murders").

In 2011, Track married Britta Hanson, who gave birth 3 months after the wedding. They were divorced after 18 months, with Track keeping all of his guns.

In early 2015, Track Palin began dating Jordan Loewe. They met in the summer of 2014 through mutual friends. They had their son, Charlie Mitchell Palin, in 2016. According to Loewe, Track has physically hurt her on multiple occasions. She alleges he choked her when she was seven months pregnant and attacked her while she held their weeks-old baby; the latter event prompted Loewe to leave Palin.[28]

Controversy

On September 6, 2014 Track Palin, Todd Palin, and Bristol Palin were all involved in a family brawl that took place at a house party at a friend's home in Anchorage, Alaska.

According to the police reports, there were at least two fights involving the Palins.

One, in front of the house, was said to involve Todd Palin, Track; and several other men.

A second one then began, involving the Bristol Palin; the owner of the home, Korey Klingenmeyer; and some others.

Track Palin was shirtless, with “blood around his mouth and on his hands,” and “appeared to be heavily intoxicated,” according to one report.

“He acted belligerent at first” when asked to come out of the limo to talk to officers, “and a female who turned out to be his mother told him to talk to me.”

Track said the fighting started when “some guys were talking rudely to his sisters [Bristol and Willow] making them cry,” one report said, so they decided to leave.

As they were doing so, Track said, someone hit a friend of his and knocked him to the ground, and then Track was jumped from behind, according to the report.

“Todd interjected,” the officer reported, saying that then “everything escalated, and it was a situation they couldn’t walk away from.”

Klingenmeyer, described as “mildly intoxicated,” said Bristol Palin approached him in the back yard and began swearing and threatening another woman.

Klingenmeyer told her to leave, and she refused and threatened him before “punching him in the face repeatedly with both hands,” according to another officer’s report.

Klingenmeyer said that Track Palin and another man came up and “began throwing punches at him.”

The officer reported that while he was talking with Klingenmeyer, both Todd and Track Palin came back up the driveway and police had to “separate everyone to keep things from escalating again.”

Bristol Palin told police that “her younger sister Willow told her an older lady pushed her.”

So Bristol “went towards the woman to confront her,” and Klingenmeyer pushed her down to the ground” and repeatedly called her, among other things, a “slut,” according to police.

Another witness told police that Bristol Palin hit Klingenmeyer “in the face multiple times,” and that two women pulled her away “and that was when she went down to the ground.”

Criminal history

2016 Arrest

In January 2016, Track Palin was arrested for punching his girlfriend at his family's home in Wasilla, Alaska. He pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm while intoxicated, and took a plea deal that resulted in other charges being dismissed. His girlfriend later filed for custody of their child and sought a protective order against him.

The arrest came only hours after Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump for president. She alluded to her son’s arrest during a campaign rally, suggesting that he suffered from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder after returning from a United States Armed Forces deployment in the Iraq War.

She described soldiers “who come home from the battlefield bringing new battles with them [and] coming back different than when they left for the war zone.”

“When my own son is going through what he goes through coming back, I can certainly relate to other families who feel these ramifications of PTSD,” she said, before blaming then-President Barack Obama, even though Track served in Iraq for one year while George W. Bush was president.

2017 Arrest

In December 2017, Palin was arrested in Wasilla, Alaska on charges of domestic violence. He was arraigned on Sunday December 17, 2017, on three counts of felony burglary, misdemeanor reckless assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief for causing up to $500 in property damage.

According to charging documents he broke into his parents’ home and beat his father, Todd Palin who was brandishing a gun but refused to shoot.

The court filing states that the fight started when Track Palin confronted his father over a truck he wanted to pick up.

His father, Todd Palin, had told him not to come to the home because Track had been drinking and taking pain medication, according to a sworn police affidavit and charging documents.

“Track told him he was [going to] come anyway to beat his ass,” according to an affidavit filed by Wasilla police Officer Adam LaPointe.

When Todd Palin confronted his son at the door with a pistol, Track broke a window and entered the house and started beating his father, according to court filings.

Palin pushed his father to the ground and hit him repeatedly on the head, the documents say.

Track's mother Sarah Palin called police at 8:30 p.m. and said her son was “freaking out and was on some type of medication.”

When police arrived, they saw Todd and Sarah Palin fleeing the house in separate vehicles, Todd Palin with blood running down his face and Sarah Palin looking “visibly upset,” the documents say.

Police confronted Track Palin in the residence.

He called them “peasants” and told them to lay down their weapons, according to the documents. Eventually, Palin left the house and was placed in handcuffs. He told police that when he arrived at the house, his father had his gun aimed at him, and he had urged his father to shoot him several times before entering the house, according to the documents.

When policed interviewed Todd Palin, he was bleeding from multiple cuts to his head, and one ear was discharging liquid, documents say.

The Wasilla Police Dept. did not respond to a request for comment about whether its officers interviewed Sarah Palin.

A judge set Track Palin’s bail at $5,000. He remains in custody at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer, Alaska. Palmer Dist. Atty. Roman J. Kalytiak said if Palin remains in custody, his office must take the case to the grand jury within 10 days. If Palin pays bail and is released, prosecutors will have 20 days to go before the grand jury.

An attorney for Sarah and Todd Palin declined comment on the case.

“Given the nature of actions addressed... by law enforcement and the charges involved, the Palins are unable to comment further,” John Tiemessen said in a statement.

“They ask that the family’s privacy is respected during this challenging situation just as others dealing with a struggling family member would also request.”

In June 2018, as part of a plea deal, Track Palin pleaded guilty to one charge of criminal trespassing in exchange for the charges of criminal mischief and assault to be dropped. He also agreed to enroll in a therapy program through the Anchorage Veterans Court, which required him to undergo alcohol and drug testing.[17] As part of the program, he worked three shifts at the Salvation Army goodwill store in Wasilla, Alaska.[28]

2018 Arrest

On September 28, 2018, Track Palin was arrested on misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree domestic violence assault, interfering with the report of a domestic-violence crime, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.[27] The victim domestic violence was later identified as, Jordan Loewe, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child. He pleaded 'not guilty' to all four charges and faced up to a year behind bars and $27,000 in fines.[30]

According to an online dispatch, when Loewe attempted to call authorities, he attempted to prevent her from doing so by taking away her phone.[30]

In October 2018, a judge ruled for Track Palin to serve one year in custody.

He stated that allegations of hitting a woman on the head disqualified him from a therapeutic program for veterans stemming from a separate assault case.[18]
