They founded the Jain Foundation, a non-profit foundation seeking a cure for Dysferlinopathy which afflicts his son[4]. Ajit recruited Dr. Plavi Mittal to lead the foundation and during her tenure from 2005 - April 2017 she built the goals, principles, and philosophy by which the foundation still runs today. The Jain Foundation is currently located in Seattle, Washington, USA and is privately funded. The foundation does not solicit funding from patients or other sources.
Ajit and Tinku Jain
Ajit Jain worked for IBM in India from 1973 to 1976, and then moved to the United States, where he earned an MBA from Harvard Business School School l in 1978. He joined McKinsey & Co., but returned to India in the early 1980s. After a month long courtship, he married Tinku Jain, a girl chosen by his parents[3]. According to Robert P. Miles' book The Warren Buffett CEO: Secrets from the Berkshire Hathaway Managers Jain said he would not have returned to America, but his wife wanted to move there[2].
