Tawny Newsome is a Sketch and Improvisation comedian.
Career
Tawny can be found appearing as Chelsea Leight-Leigh in the Seeso series "Bajillion Dollar Propertie$", as Grace in TVLand's "Nobodies", as Nina in the 'Comedy Get Down" on BET, and as a frequent contributor on improvisation podcasts "Comedy Bang! Bang!" and "Spontaneanation with Paul F. Tompkins". Previously she experienced guest starring in NBC's "Chicago Fire", USA's "Sirens'" and Fox's "Crisis".
Before L.A, she had mainly been writing and performing her work on the Second City Mainstage in Chicago. She's also starred in Second City collaborations such as 'The Art of Falling' with Hubbard Street Dance, and 'The Second City's Guide to the Opera", starring Patrick Stewart. Other regional credits include: "The Upstairs Concierge", a world premiere at the Goodman Theatre, as well as productions at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and Writer's Theatre.
Education
Tawny is a Depaul University Theatre School graduate.
Achievements
Tawny was nominated for a 2014 Joseph Jefferson Award for Revue Actress in "A Depraved New World" at the Second City Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
