Tavon Jaylin Walters is a 17 year-old who violently used his force to slap the face of 5 year-old Jazmyn Peters by using the hand of another another individual.

Background

Walters is a lifetime resident of Bamberg, South Carolina where he is a member of the Capernaum Baptist Church in Denmark, South Carolina where he is an usher. He lives with his mother and step-father.

He attends Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School and works at Ralph Lauren.

Assault And Battery

On August 29th, 2016, inside a k-12 school bus, surveillance video shows Walters grabbing the hand of another student, and fiercely using it to slap several times the face of a young 5 year-old girl named Jazmyn Peters.

Jazmyn's father took a picture of the mark that was left on her face when she got home.

There were speculations as to whether Walters indeed slapped Jazmyn due to the photo being reversed.

The next day Walters turned himself in and all speculation stopped.

He was accused of being a flight-risk, which was denied by his lawyer, who also denied the allegations that he is a danger to the community.

His lawyer asked for a Personal recognizance bond from the judge, which was denied. Walters claims that he received threats of people trying to harm him for his actions and was prompted to turn himself in for his own security. He is to have no contact with victim or the family.

The attorney for the Peters family is looking into the school's procedures and policies.

The family is considering a possible lawsuit.

He has been charged with assault And third degree battery - a Criminal Misdemeanor.

He has a court date on September 26th, 2016 where he may spend 30 days in jail or be fined up to $1,087.

Walters is known to have a violent juvenile past.

In one of his YouTube videos, he is seen bullying what appears to be a younger family member. Walters decides to infuriate the younger boy by shutting off his Xbox. The younger boy proceeds to chase Walters around the house with a belt with the purpose of hurting him. Walters and the person filming laugh throughout the video.
