Strauss Zelnick
Harry Strauss Zelnick (born June 26, 1957) is a venture capitalist and a business executive in the entertainment industry. He is a Partner at Zelnick Media Capital and the Chairman & CEO at Take-Two Interactive.
Zelnick is also the interim Chairman of CBS Corp and has been serving the position since October 2018.
Early Life & Education
Strauss Zelnick was born in Boston, Massachusetts.
Between 1979 to 1983, Strauss was a student of Harvard Business School and obtained an MBA there. During these years he also studied at the Harvard Law School and received a JD degree. Prior to that, in 1979, he graduated summa cum laude from Wesleyan University with Bachelor's degrees in English and Psychology.
Career
Early Beginnings
Strauus Zelnick's first executive position was at Columbia Pictures. He served as the company's Vice President of International Television Sales from 1983 to 1986.
In October 1989, Zelnick began his tenure with 20th Century Fox. He served as their President & COO, managing all aspects of Fox's worldwide motion picture production and distribution business.
In June 1993, Zelnick became the President & CEO of Crystal Dynamics, a video game developer.
In January 1995, Strauss Zelnick served as President & CEO of BMG Entertainment. At the time, BMG owned 200 record labels and operated in 54 countries.
Zelnick is an associate member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame, has served on the Board of Directors of the Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America and is a Trustee Emeritus of Wesleyan University.
Zelnick Media Capital
In 2001, Strauss Zelnick founded ZelnickMedia, now known as ZMC. He is responsible for originating, structuring and monitoring ZMC's investments. He currently represents ZMC as a director of Education Networks of America and on the board of Alloy, L.L.C.
CBS Corp
Zelnick is the interim chairman of CBS Corporation. He has been serving the position since Richard Parsons resigned in October 2018.
Personal Life
In January 1990, Strauss married his wife Wendy J. Belzberg.
The couple has three children.
In 2015, Strauss founded a group fitness club called "The Program", which meets four times a week for a variety of intense, early morning workouts .
