Clark was born with the name, "Stephen", but he would later change it to, Stephon, because he wanted to be different than his father.

He grew up in the Sacramento area for most of his life and along with his brother, he had experiences living in underprivileged, broken homes.

Clark was known to have trouble with the law during his teenage years and was in the process of bettering himself from his past criminal behavior.

On Sunday March 18, 2018, Clark was fatally shot by Sacramento Police in his own backyard.

Officers were responding to a call of a person breaking car windows nearby.

Stephon matched the description, and helicopters monitoring the area were used to follow Stephon onto his own property, where he was shot and killed.

Stephon approached the officers and they fired 20 shots at him in his own backyard.

Police stated they believed Clark was armed with a handgun, though no firearm was found at the scene.

Police also stated instead Clark had a object that he extended in front of him while advancing towards two officers.

Reactions

A few days after the killing of Clark and that news broke out about the way he died, people organized a march against police brutality that took place on March 22nd, 2018 on the I-5 in Sacramento.

On Social Media, people began to question the validity of the information that was being shared by law enforcement.

Officers Terrence Mercadal and Jared Robinet were identified as the officers who fatally shot Clark.
