Spenser is originally from Watertown, New York. He attended the United States Military Academy and was a member of the history honors society, Phi Alpha Theta. He graduated in 2016. Spenser is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. He is an active user on Reddit.
Photo Controversy
On September 25th, 2017, Spenser tweeted out a photo under the #VeteransForKaepernick hashtag tweet, a picture of himself clinching his fist holding his cap that said "Communism Will Win" on the inside. He then tweeted another picture showing the Che Guevara shirt under his uniform with the caption “In case there was any lingering doubt, hasta la victoria siempre." [1]
