Patents

Sina Firouzabadi has filed four Patents to protect the following Inventions. This listing includes Patent applications that are pending as well as Patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent Office.

On March 5, 2013 Sina Firouzabadi, Sai Pradeep Venkatraman, Weihua Gao and Vinay Sridhara filed for a patent for Method and apparatus for peer-2-peer Wi-Fi ranging using Near field communication (patent number: 9198119). According to some aspects, a method includes communicating a request from a first device to a second device using Near field communication (NFC). The request includes a preferred mode of Wireless Local Area Network (Wi-Fi) operation and state information of the first device. The method further includes receiving a reply at the first device, sent from the second device, including acceptance of the preferred mode of Wi-Fi operation. The method further includes communicating wireless information to establish the Wi-Fi communication link from the first device to the second device. The patient was assigned by QUALCOMM Incorporated on November 24, 2015.

On March 13, 2013 Sina Firouzabadi and Payam Pakzad filed for a patent for Method and apparatus for determining locations of Access points (publication number: 20140266916). Methods and apparatuses for determining locations of a plurality of Access points (APs) are presented. In some embodiments, the method includes obtaining measurements from at least 3 measurement points using a mobile device, wherein the locations of the at least 3 measurement points are unknown and are at different locations. The method may also include computing distance measurements from the mobile device to each of the plurality of APs, at each of the at least 3 measurement points, using the measurements, computing a set of mutual distance values in a matrix of mutual distances between each of the plurality of APs, using the distance measurements, and determining the locations of the plurality of APs using the computed matrix of mutual distances, relative to the at least 3 measurement points. The patent was published on September 18, 2014. On March 5, 2013 Sina Firouzabadi, Sai Pradeep Venkatraman, Weihua Gao and Vinay Sridhara filed for another patent of the same name (publication number: 20140254575)

On January 9, 2013 Sina Firouzabadi, Vinay Sridhara and Aman Fawzy Naguib filed for a patent for RTT Quality Improvement By Compensation Of Artifacts Introduced By AP And STA (publication number: 20140194154). A system and method described for compensating for artifacts is introduced by nodes in a wireless network. The method may include transmitting, by a first node, first characteristic information indicating the frequency response of the first node to a mobile station in the wireless network and receiving, by the first node from the mobile station, second characteristic information indicating the frequency response of a second node in the wireless network. By broadcasting the frequency response of each node in the network to each other node, the method may produce a compensated channel estimation that eliminates or reduces artifacts introduced by the nodes to wireless signals.
