Siafa Lewis is an American journalist based in Chicago, Illinois. He is a sports anchor and reporter at NBC 5 Chicago. [1]
Early Years & Education
Lewis was born in West Germany to Liberian parents who were graduate students. They moved to New Jersey when he was 7. Lewis graduated from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, with a Bachelor's degree in radio, TV and film. After pursuing modeling and acting, he won a contest to report traffic for WCAU, the NBC-owned station in Philadelphia, in 2004.[5]
Career
In June 2014, Lewis joined NBC 5 sports achors team.
"I cover sports in one of the world’s best sports towns!!!" Lewis wrote on his Linkedin profile. "Lucky and BLESSED!"[5] In February 2017, he was named the channel's lead sports anchor. Frank Whittaker, station manager and vice president of news at NBC 5, said in a statement: "Siafa has been an integral member of our team since joining us in 2014. We are thrilled to have him anchor our weeknight sportscasts alongside news anchors Rob Stafford and Allison Rosati."[5]
Prior to his move to NBC 5, Lewis worked for the NBC affiliate in New York.
While there he anchored sports, was the original co-host of LXNY, served as a correspondent on NY Live as well as 1st Look NY, Openhouse NYC and I Do.
Lewis earned three Emmy nominations in NY for On-camera Talent.
Before joining NBC, Lewis was a general assignment reporter at SNY, which is part of the Comcast SportsNet Group. In addition to serving as the New York Giants beat reporter, Lewis covered all 9 NYC area professional teams, professional boxing, Rutgers football, college basketball and more. Lewis was also co-host of SNY’s weekly magazine show, Mets Weekly.
Personal Life
Siafa has a wife, Deanna, and two children, Leelynn and Cooper.[6]
