Shawn Nicholas Diamond was a 29 year old resident of Edgewood, Maryland who was originally from Baltimore, Maryland.

Police Shooting

Shawn Diamond was shot several times by police after after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and vandalizing a car at Dallas Love Field airport in Dallas, Texas. After the shooting Diamond was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

On Monday June 6, 2016 Diamond drove from his home state of Maryland to his ex-girlfriend and mother of his kids home in Carrollton a city near Dallas.

The ex became afraid and walked away from Diamond, and as he drove away he ran into trees in the median of Forest Lane in Carrollton on Tuesday June 7, 2016.

Police caught him and arrested him on the criminal mischief charge and served two days in jail.

After he was released from jail, the ex-girlfriend agreed to take him to the airport so he could back to Edgewood, Maryland. But she said that as they drove to catch his flight at the airport, Diamond got angry and hit her.

At Love Field, as the two angrily unloaded luggage and clothing from the car, Diamond picked up a traffic cone and smashed the rear window of the woman’s car and threw landscaping stones through the windows of the car.

It was then that the uniformed officer approached the couple to intervene in the altercation.

Witnesses reported as the officer tried to avoid a physical confrontation, Diamond said, “You are going to have to shoot me.”

Even after Diamond fell to the ground, wounded by gunfire, he ignored commands to stay down and charged at the officer with rocks in his hands.

The officer fired several bullets into Diamond.
